Looking at a map of China, you'll see Sichuan Province located south and west of Beijing. Looking west you'll see the Himalayan Mountains in Tibet. You will also notice mountains to the north, south and west of Chengdu, but Chengdu is not mountainous. Chengdu is in a basin, the Sichuan Basin. Living in a basin means the weather here is very humid in the summer and damp in the winter. It also means Chengdu often has a haze of fog and smog hovering over the city. Practically it means towels, clothing (no drier), floors, and counters seem to never dry.
Life in a basin might be wet and sunless, but the Son is always near.
We thank Him for new life we have seen, opportunities in the community, and neighbors knocking on our door.
Please remember:
1. Todd and Vicki as they equip and encourage Chinese counselors
2. Lisa and Todd as they teach athletes
3. Hillary as she completes her last semester of her senior year
(Hillary was accepted to Crown College for next fall!)
4. Haley and Hillary as they get through the sunless winter
