Happy 兔 Year

February third brought in the Year of the Rabbit
Chinese Spring Festival, Chinese Lunar New Year, is full of fireworks, family, food and superstition. Superstition holds many in darkness.  Many of these superstitions are practiced deliberately but others are so subconscious, that people are "trapped" and have no idea.
Food, fireworks and family gatherings are a lot of fun.
This year our team made jiaozi (Chinese dumplings) together.  The moms (Kim and I) made the meat filling and the whole team worked together to "Bao Jiaozi", fill the wrappers with the meat mixture.
At midnight, all of us went to the roof of our nine story apartment building to watch the city explode with fireworks.  Please take a look at our fireworks videos, photos and a news article telling more about Chinese New Year.
Video #1: Here is a video from our rooftop of the New Years Eve fireworks!  Attention!  None of these fireworks are professional.  Many of the close ones are being set off by our neighbors

Here is an article from CNN that talks a little more more about Chinese New Years.  Even if you don't read the article, please take a look at the video in the left column.  Heading home for Spring Festival (Chinese New Years) is of the utmost importance.  This short clip shows the masses training back to their homes for the holidays

Video #2:  Take a quick look at the fireworks exploding directly above our apartment.  I think we had "the best seat in the house!!
